Overseas Vietnamese celebrate Tet


(VOVworld) The Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine and local Vietnamese community have held a celebration of mark the Lunar New Year. Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tri was speaking at the event:The Party and State always consider overseas Vietnamese as inseparable part of the national unity. Following the Politbureau resolution 36, the Embassy will facilitate people in their work and study.”
Similar event opened in Romanian capital of Bucharest , where Ambassador Tran Xuan Thuy conferred the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese’s certificates of merit on outstanding Vietnamese.

In Washington D.C. , 300 overseas Vietnamese gathered at a celebration to welcome Tet held by the Embassy. Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong told participants that the US is now one of Vietnam ’s leading partners and expected further progress in bilateral ties:“Many Vietnamese professors and scholars have contributed to Vietnam US bilateral relations in education, training, science and technology. US officials and politicians have praised their innovation and dynamism by Vietnamese people in all States, which help improve bilateral ties.”
In Phnom Penh , the local overseas Vietnamese association and philanthropists presented 240 Tet gifts to poor people ahead of the lunar New Year.
In Algiers , the Vietnamese Embassy held a get together to welcome Tet, where the Ambassador highlighted major national developments, including revision to the Constitution and the protection of human rights and civic rights.
In Singapore , the local Vietnamese community laid wreath at the Ho Chi Minh monument. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Tran Hai Hau urged the local Vietnamese to continuously learn from President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example while promoting bilateral friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore .
