Panama’s President Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal pays official visit to Vietnam

(VOVworld)-Vietnam and Panama have signed cooperative agreements on culture and diplomatic consultation. The visiting Panama’s President Martinelli Berrocal and his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang witnessed the signing ceremony in Hanoi on Thursday. During talks earlier the same day, President Sang expected the visit will mark a new milestone in bilateral cooperation.

Panama’s President Berrocal praised Vietnam’s contribution to the world community and urged Vietnam to share its experience in rice and coffee plantation as well as participating in investment projects in Panama cannel. Both expected mutual support in multilateral fora, including the United Nations and the Non-aligned Movement. President Truong Tan Sang:“Vietnam and Panama have enjoyed fine development in bilateral relations. Two-way trade revenue has increased rapidly from 50 million dollars in 2005 to 245 million dollars last year. The recently signed agreements will boost bilateral cooperation to a new height.”

The same day, the Panama’s President paid a courtesy visit to Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong and laid wreaths at the Monument of Hero Martyrs and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
