(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam on Sunday visited Hue City, where recent historic floods have claimed 15 lives and caused extensive damage to local infrastructure.

He affirmed that the Party, State, and people nationwide always stand with the central region and Hue City in the spirit of “the haves help the have-nots,” promptly providing support and sharing hardships with flood-affected residents.
The Party leader emphasized that although floodwaters have receded, authorities and people must not be complacent, as weather conditions remain unpredictable. The top priority, he said, is to ensure the safety of the people under all circumstances.

“Our immediate task is to urgently overcome the flood aftermath so that children can return to school and people can resume normal life as soon as possible. In the long term, we need to invest in and strengthen reservoirs and sea dikes to safeguard lives against future floods,” General Secretary To Lam said.
On this occasion, the Party leader presented 3.8 million USD in aid, 200 tons of rice, and 45 gift packages to families in particularly difficult circumstances.
