(VOVworld) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong worked with the Central Theoretical Council on Monday in Hanoi. He reviewed the council’s implementation of its tasks in the first half of the year and pointed out future key tasks. He called on the council to give priority to the research of fundamental theoretical issues and giving advice to the Party in regards to formulating guidelines. Trong said the council needed to summarize what has been done over the past 30 years of renewal, prepare documents for the 12^th National Party Congress and review theoretical works which matched the new reality of national development and international integration:“This is the backbone and key task that we should undertake. The 8^th plenum of the Party Central Committee in October will establish the subcommittee for documents. The plenum will report on socio-economic issues in the first half of the term and discuss mid-term programs for socio-economic development.

Party leader Trong said that the council needed to provide theoretical findings based on Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, while frankly addressing controversial issues and criticizing the wrongful ideas.
