(VOVWORLD) - The Party Central Committee (PCC) began a three-day plenum in Hanoi on Monday, focusing on preparations for the upcoming 14th National Party Congress and key socio-economic goals.

The Politburo is set to brief the Committee on personnel nominations and plans for the next tenure of the Committee and its Inspection Commission, to be followed by voting. The Politburo described personnel work as ‘particularly crucial’ - ‘the key of the key’ - to the success of the 14th National Party Congress and Vietnam’s future development.
“The nomination process must be based on established standards and qualifications as outlined in the Party’s personnel orientation for the 14th Congress and related regulations.The interests of the Party, the nation, and the people must come first,” Party General Secretary To Lam said in his opening remarks.
The core criteria in personnel selection are competence, reputation, integrity, effectiveness, and the courage to think, act, and take responsibility for the national interest, and to stay close to the people, respect them, and serve them, the Party chief noted.
General Secretary Lam outlined bold targets for next year, including GDP growth of more than 10%, per capita income of 5,400–5,500 USD, and consumer price growth of 4.5%.
