Little indicated that the proposed funding for operations in Afghanistan were in addition to a more than 530 billion USD budget that the Pentagon has already submitted to Congress. The amount of funding would allow the Pentagon to pay for US army forces’ daily living activities, as well as cost of withdrawal of the troops. There are about 63,000 US troops currently in Afghanistan, and the number is due to drop to 34,000 in February 2014. According to plans, the US will withdraw all of its military forces from Afghanistan by the end of next year.
