Phu Tho, Ha Nam provinces to step up new rural development program

(VOVworld) – The northern province of Phu Tho and Ha Nam should apply technology in agricultural production in accordance with the new rural development program and make the best of its advantages to develop service sector and promote investment in high technology. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the suggestions during his working sessions with leaders of the two provinces.

Phu Tho province was asked to fulfill its 2013 socio-development plan. Specific tasks include boosting agricultural production in appropriation with processing industry and market demands, applying technology in agriculture for higher productivity and quality, facilitating investors in agro-forestry production, and ensuring social welfare. Prime Minister Dung called on the local authorities to promote the values of heritages of Xoan folk singing and the Hung Kings Veneration Ritual. It’s necessary for the province to preserve the Hung Kings temple, a special national relic, in the mean time, develop provincial service centers to produce typical tourism products, making tourism a spearhead of the province.

In Ha Nam, the Prime Minister urged provincial leaders to step up the new rural development program, particularly restructuring the agriculture sector, growing large-scale rice field model, and fostering processing industry. Besides, local administrators should help businesses develop their operation and speed up the construction of industrial zones. Dung noted that Ha Nam province needs to pay greater attention to social   welfare, job creation, and wage increase to promote both material and spiritual lives of residents. He responded to specific proposals and petitions about local projects of industry, transportation, irrigation, and tourism.
