(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in South Africa on Friday morning, for the G20 Summit and a series of bilateral activities.

At the airport, PM Chinh and his entourage were welcomed by representatives of the South African Government, Vietnamese Ambassador Hoang Sy Cuong, and members of the local Vietnamese community.
"It is not just a visit in term of the President coming but the milestone in recognizing the significance of the relationship between South Africa and Vietnam,”said South Africa’s Ambassador to Vietnam Vuyiswa Tulelo.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending the G20 is another step in indicating how strong and vibrant the relationship is going to be and again indicating the strengthen significance of the relationship between South Africa and Vietnam, she noted.

On the same day, PM Chinh visited the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) - the financial heart of South Africa and the largest stock exchange in Africa.
Working with Dr Leila Fourie, Group CEO at the JSE, Mr. Chinh noted that Vietnam’s stock market had recently been upgraded from frontier to secondary emerging market status.
Noting that Vietnam is also developing an International Financial Centre in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, he expressed Vietnam’s desire to cooperate and learn from the JSE’s management expertise to ensure the healthy, transparent, stable and sustainable development of its capital market.
