(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday said he hopes that the Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) will boost cooperation with Vietnamese partners in strategic infrastructure, especially standard gauge railways and urban railways, including the Hai Phong-Hanoi-Lao Cai railway so as to connect Vietnam with China’s Kunming to Chongqing, and to European countries.

Prime Minister Chinh on Wednesday received Zhou Jiayi, President of PowerChina Asia Pacific, and representatives of consortiums and partner firms operating in Vietnam.
Vietnam is focusing on three strategic breakthroughs, including infrastructure development in transportation, energy, and digital infrastructure, with a special emphasis on connectivity with China, Mr. Chinh told his guest.
He added that Vietnam always works with, support, protect and ensure the legitimate and legal rights and interests of foreign investors, including PowerChina and Chinese enterprises, in operating successful, effective, mutually beneficial projects and in compliance with Vietnamese laws.
As the world’s seventh-largest energy contractor, PowerChina also aims to expand its cooperation and investment in renewable energy and other infrastructure sectors in Vietnam, Mr. Zhou said.
