The Prime Minister’s article marks Vietnam’s hosting of the ongoing sixth Greater Mekong Sub-region Summit (GMS-6) and the 10th Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Summit (CLV-10). Mr. Phuc said Mekong cooperative mechanisms are forums for member countries to consolidate trust and strengthen dialogue. They also assist in regional connectivity, narrowing development gap, and improving people’s living standards. The PM stressed the region is a space of security and development and that Mekong cooperation projects implemented in Vietnam are proving to be effective. The Mekong mechanisms help Vietnam gain resources from its development partners to boost national growth, reduce poverty, and stay connected with the rest of the region.

PM Phuc said Vietnam has proactively participated in all Mekong cooperative frameworks, worked with other members to build an effective mode operation, capitalize on the strength of participants, and meet development needs of the region. Mr. Phuc also reviewed Vietnam’s contributions to the Mekong cooperative framework in trade, investment, the environment, water source management, and education.
