(VOVWORLD) - A report on removing the EC’s yellow card on Vietnam’s fisheries must be finalized next week, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said, stressing that “this process cannot be delayed any further.”

Chairing a meeting of the National Steering Committee for Combating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing, PM Chinh instructed authorities to resolve all remaining shortcomings, especially those highlighted by the European Commission.

He emphasized the need for strict, resolute action against IUU fishing, with measurable progress required each week.

The PM also extended his deepest condolences to the people and authorities of the flood-hit localities, particularly the families of those who died, are missing, or were injured.

He called on businesses and citizens nationwide to support communities in the central region during this difficult period.
