PM receives Samsung Electronics chairman

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Samsung Electronics’ Executive Chairman Lee Jae Yong in Seoul on Tuesday where he suggested that the tech giant use Vietnam as a key base for R&D and developing major products for global markets.

PM Chinh said he hopes Samsung will increase investment, expand its markets, and diversify supply and linkage chains in Vietnam. He asked Samsung to raise its presence in Vietnam and help Vietnamese businesses improve their capacity to join Samsung’s value chain.

Mr. Chinh also encouraged support for Vietnamese digital technology businesses and partners to develop innovative products within Samsung’s ecosystem. He proposed that Samsung enhance its R&D center activities in Hanoi and help Vietnam develop high-quality human resources in emerging sectors. He urged support for innovation, startups, and the application of science and technology in Vietnam.

Chairman Lee said Samsung is committed to assisting Vietnam in its sustainable development. He announced Samsung’s plan to invest heavily over the next three years to make its Vietnam factory the group’s largest display module production base worldwide.
