PM welcomes WB's proposed loan of 11 billion USD to Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday welcomed the World Bank's proposal on lending more than 11 billion USD to Vietnam over the next five years, focusing on large-scale information infrastructure, energy, and agriculture.

Prime Minister Chinh on Monday received in Hanoi Manuela V. Ferro, World Bank Vice President who is on a working visit to Vietnam and Mariam J. Sherman, World Bank Country Director for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister appreciated the World Bank's support for Vietnam's socio-economic development dated 1993 with a total capital of 24 billion USD. He expressed his hope that the World Bank will continue to support Vietnam in sustainable growth, green economy, digital economy, circular economy, sharing economy, and knowledge economy.

PM Chinh thanked the World Bank for setting up its regional office for the three countries of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia in Hanoi.

He proposed that the two sides coordinate to build the Vietnam-World Bank National Partnership Framework for the period 2025-2029, determine the direction of cooperation, especially the ability to mobilize resources and World Bank's sponsorship portfolio for Vietnam.

Agreeing with Prime Minister Chinh's opinion, Ms. Manuela V. Ferro wished to continue working with Vietnam to achieve development goals until 2030 and 2050 with specific actions and projects.

She said the World Bank has been closely coordinating with Vietnamese ministries and agencies to thoroughly review projects and build a Vietnam-World Bank National Partnership Framework in the new period.
