(VOVWORLD) -For Vietnam, the World Bank is one of the three largest development partners providing foreign loans, that have accounted for 35% of Vietnam's total foreign loans, Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan said on Wednesday in Hanoi.

Meeting Carolyn Turk, World Bank Country Director, who came to said say goodbye before ending her term in Vietnam, the Acting President praised the WB for its contribution to supporting development and improving the living standards of people around the world. Since 1993, the WB has committed 25 billion USD of loans for Vietnam to implement 180 programs and projects, helping Vietnam develop its economy and society.
Anh Xuan proposed that the WB pay attention to funding Vietnam with 5-7 billion USD in the period 2023-2027, to help the country implement key national and large-scale projects in transport infrastructure, urban areas, renewable energy, smart agriculture, and response to climate change. She expressed her hopes that the two sides will soon agree on the National Partnership Framework for the period 2024-2027, and it will be approved by WB leaders this year, as a basis for the two sides to map out detailed implementation activities.
The Acting President wished Ms. Turk a successful new working term, always being a bridge and supporting cooperation and development between Vietnam and the World Bank.
Carolyn Turk applauded Vietnam’s support for and coordination with the WB, saying that the WB is always ready to work with Vietnam to achieve its socio-economic development goals, which prioritizes the development of transport infrastructure, urban areas, renewable energy, and climate change response.
