(VOVworld) – Delegates to the 12th National Party Congress attended a preparatory meeting after paying tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum on Wednesday. They elected the congress’s Presidium, Secretariat, and committee to verify the eligibility of delegates, its agenda, and electoral mechanisms.
Cuba’s Prensa Latina news agency reported on Tuesday that the 12th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam was an important milestone in Vietnam’s renewal process, which began in 1986. It said that the congress was aimed at turning Vietnam into a modern industrial nation. 1,510 delegates representing 4.5 million Party members nationwide are attending the congress.
