President receives US, Mexican, Singaporean ambassadors

(VOVWORLD) -President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has affirmed the deepening comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the US with 2021 bilateral trade turnover reaching a record high of 111 billion USD and Vietnam now becoming one of the 10 largest trade partners of the US.

Receiving US Ambassador Marc Evans Knapper who presented his credentials on Friday in Hanoi, President Phuc congratulated Knapper on having been assigned a new responsibility by President Joe Biden and welcomed the ambassador back to Hanoi. Knapper said he is impressed with Vietnam’s strong development and pledged to do his best to promote cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, education, defense and security.

Receiving credentials from the Mexican Ambassador, the President congratulated Mr. Alejandro Negrin Munoz on his new job and emphasized the good cooperation relationship between the two countries. He suggested that the two sides maintain exchanges and political contacts at all levels and promote cooperation mechanisms. Vietnam wishes to receive Mexico's valuable support in coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and Vietnam's candidacy for the Human Rights Council for the term 2023-2025. President Phuc wished Mexico to successfully assume the role of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the term 2021-2022 and invited the President of Mexico to visit Vietnam.

Earlier, meeting with Singapore Ambassador Jaya Ratnam, President Phuc appreciated the ambassador's contribution to the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership. He urged for more in-depth cooperation programs towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2023. For his part, the ambassador committed best efforts to promote the two countries' cooperation in economy, trade, investment, defense and security.
