(VOVworld)- Presidnet Truong Tan Sang and his entourage left New York on July 26, wrapping up their three-day official visit to the US at the invitation of President Barack Obama. The visit was of great importance in shaping the Vietnam- US ties in the future. During the visit, the two sides agreed to form a Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership to provide an overarching framework for advancing the relationship in politics, diplomacy, economics, trade, science, technology, education, training, environment, health care, humanitarian cooperation and solving the post war aftermaths, national defense and security, human rights protection and promotion, culture, sports and tourism. The two leaders expressed their belief that the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership will benefit both countries and contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the Asia- Pacific region and the world. They pledged to complete the negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership while taking into account the diversity of the participants’ levels of development in the context of a comprehensive and balanced package.

Before leaving the US, President Sang met with the family of former US President Clinton, supporters for Vietnam, US war veterans and overseas Vietnamese. During the meetings, the two sides praised efforts in promoting bilateral ties.
