The Tree Planting Festival has become an annual Tet tradition. President Sang says: "I call on all Vietnamese people to get involved in planting fruit trees, timber, trees to protect beaches, and dykes, against landslides, and trees in residential areas, industrial zones, along roads, on islands, and on bare hills. It’s necessary to raise awareness and implement practical measures to protect forests, contribute to economic development, improve people’s incomes and living standard, and protect the environment for the future generations."

During the visit, President Sang burned incense at the Yen The Uprising relic site to commemorate Hoang Hoa Tham who led an insurgent army for 30 years against French troops in the early 20th century. Sang expressed his hope that Bac Giang province will take the lead in agricultural movements including planting, afforestation, and building a new rural lifestyle.
