(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang visited Phu Yen province on Saturday as part of his tour of south central provinces. He worked with provincial leaders on the implementation of socio-economic development tasks and ways to ensure national defense and security in the area. President Sang asked the province to focus on cash crops and offshore fishing to develop the marine economy.

He said it is essential to establish a fund to support fishermen and the people to develop the marine economy: “Offshore fishing plays an important role in Phu Yen’s economic development. The province should invest in science and technology and offshore fishing vessels as well as support local fishermen. This is also part of Vietnam’s marine strategy.”
