Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front and senior veteran revolutionaries attended the funeral. Prime Minister Phuc said in his eulogy that with more than 80 years of Party membership, comrade Dong Sy Nguyen devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He said that the General always excellently fulfilled the tasks entrusted by the Party, State, Army and People in any position. His name and career was especially associated with the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. He was honored with the Gold Star Order, the first-class Military Exploit Order, the 80-year Party membership badge, and many other noble orders and medals by the Party and State. The same day, the memorial service and burial ceremony for General Dong Sy Nguyen took place at the Vinh Hang Cemetery in Ha Noi's Ba Vi district. General Dong Sy Nguyen passed away at the age of 96 on April 4 after a period of serious illness.
