(VOVworld) – Vietnamese women living abroad are some of the most influential among expatriate Vietnamese communities. The statement was made at a meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday to discuss how best to involve and harness the talents of overseas Vietnamese women in national development. Vietnamese women overseas are those who have managed to preserve traditional cultural identities within their families and act as a bridge between younger overseas generations and their homeland.

Addressing the event, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan said Vietnam was integrating internationally, requiring Vietnamese women abroad to further boost their qualifications and stay competitive. Madam Doan said:

We should promote solidarity that will help overcome hurdles set by ourselves, such as an inferiority complex and resignation to their fate. I hope all women will exchange more information to help each other, boost prosperity in Vietnam and their countries of residence.

Therese Nguyen Van Ky, President of the Association of Vietnamese in France, said:

We overseas Vietnamese women always try our best to do something for the country’s national development. More than 150,000 Vietnamese people are living in France who are from various generations. The Association of Vietnamese in France has helped them to preserve their traditional culture by teaching traditional dances and the Vietnamese language. The advantage of Vietnamese women in France is their knowledge of science and technology so they can contribute to the country.
