Mr. Lam made the statements at a reception on Sunday for a high-ranking delegation from the Lao Ministry of Public Security led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security General Vilay Lakhamphong.
Party leader Lam urged both sides to strengthen mutual support and cooperation, exchange information, and share experiences in countering destabilizing activities by hostile forces. They should also focus on fighting against peaceful evolution and combating transnational crimes, particularly drug trafficking. Such actions would contribute to maintaining security and order, fostering a shared border of peace, stability, and development, and ensuring that neither country allows hostile forces to use its territory to harm the other, he said.
The Lao official thanked Vietnam for the substantial, timely, and effective support it has provided to Laos over the years, including helping Laos successfully host the ASEAN and AIPA Summits in 2024.
General Lakhamphong said that the Lao Ministry of Public Security will continue to uphold traditions and closely coordinate with its Vietnamese counterpart in protecting national security and maintaining social order and safety in all circumstances, contributing to strengthening the special Laos-Vietnam relationship.
