Republic of Korea is one of Vietnam’s most important partners, says FM

(VOVWORLD) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on Friday called the Republic of Korea one of Vietnam’s most important partners and emphasized the important role of the National Assembly of the two countries in promoting their strategic cooperative partnership.

Foreign Minister Son met with Speaker of the National Assembly Park Byeong-seug and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki in Seoul on Friday as part of his official visit to the Republic of Korea this week.

At the meetings, Mr. Son reiterated Vietnam’s wish to continue close coordination and mutual support with the Republic of Korea at multilateral forums and mechanisms. He suggested that the two countries continue to support ASEAN's position on the East Sea issue.

Speaker Park and Minister Son agreed to further the exchange of delegations and contacts at all levels in order to strengthen their political trust and cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki and the Vietnamese guest expressed their pleasure at socio-economic achievements of each country. Mr. Hong said Korean investors want to participate more in large infrastructure projects in Vietnam.

Both men stressed the need to boost the momentum of cultural cooperation, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and ensuring the safety and legitimate interests of each other's citizens.
