Restructuring the transport service

(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a strategy to develop public transport service toward 2020 with a long-term plan until 2030.

Priorities will be given to developing railway transport and the waterways. It will develop transport and tourism by sea, enhance the capacity of cruise ships and facilitate links to tourist spots on the mainland. The strategy pointed to the need for open air routes and the transportation of passengers and goods to Europe, North America, Latin America and Africa, and to boost the equitization of state-owned transport enterprises. Vietnam expects to raise its transport output to 4.3 billion tons of goods by 2030, transporting 14 billion passengers and gaining an annual average growth rate of goods transportation to 6.7 percent in the period from 2021 to 2030.
