Lavrov told reporters that Russia and China back UN’s sanctions to prevent North Korea from developing its nuclear program. He said that these sanctions will help to avoid heightened regional tensions and any possible barriers to diplomatic and political solutions to the disputes. Lavrov added that Russia opposes to any unilateral punishments aimed at completely isolating North Korea which are detrimental to the resumption of 6-party talks.

Wang called on North Korea to stop its activities, including rocket launch, that may worsen the situation.
