Both agreed to continue their dialogues, however. NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen called the meeting positive even though no consensus on the European missile plan was reached. Meanwhile, Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu reiterated Moscow’s opinion that US plans to deploy a missile system against attacks may threaten Russian security. Russia will not cooperate on this issue unless these concerns are addressed. Shoigu said Russia will continue to work to resolve issues surrounding the missile plan and praised NRC results such as boosting cooperation against terrorism and clarifying joint military exercises.
