NATO has no plan to intervene militarily in Syria

NATO said on Tuesday it has no intention of intervening militarily in Syria, after opposition leader Moaz Alkhatib said he had asked US Secretary of State John Kerry for American forces to help defend rebel-controlled parts of Syria with Patriot missiles.

Mr. Alkhatib said Syria’s opposition is waiting for a decision from NATO. So far, NATO’s only intervention in Syria’s crisis has been the deployment of Patriot missiles along Syria’s border with Turkey border to deal with any possible air or rocket attack from Syria.
