Lavrov said the ceasefire is being observed by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, who have made regular reports. According to assessments by Russia and its partners, the truce has been maintained and separate incidents should gradually die down.

Lavrov said violations of the truce had been provoked by Ukrainian servicemen and Russia hoped that the Ukrainian leadership will take measures to stop any more such cases. Swiss President Didier Burkhalter, who is the OSCE’s chairman said compliance with the agreement to a cessation of fire in Ukraine was the key condition for any peace settlement in the country.
