OSCE observers begin operation on Russia-Ukraine border

(VOVworld) – The first observers of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) began their work on the Russian-Ukrainian border. Russian news agency ITAR-TASS quoted the OSCE mission Chief Paul Picard as saying on Wednesday that four OSCE representatives are working in Russia’s southern Rostov region to monitor the operation of border-crossing points in Gukovo and Donetsk. More observers will be sent to the group.

Pieter Jaap Aalbersberg, chief investigator of the Malaysia Airline flight MH17 crash, said the same day that fighting between the Ukrainian government forces and opposition groups has prevented international investigators from accessing the crash site in eastern Ukraine. A statement by the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice said that it was the fourth day in a row that Dutch experts have to turn back to Donetsk due to unsafe situation along the route leading to the site where flight MH17 crashed. The statement reiterated the Netherlands’ continued efforts to reach the crash site to search for and return remaining victims’ bodies to their families.
