(VOVworld) – A delegation of the Russian State Duma led by Vice Chairman Ivan Melnikov paid a working visit to the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on Wednesday.

Nguyen Hong Linh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, informed the delegation of the local socio-economic development situation. He also spoke of the friendship and cooperation between Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Russia. Linh said the province has signed memoranda of understanding on cooperation with three Russian localities – Rostov Na Dony, Sverdlovsk and Nenetskiy autonomous region. He added that investment cooperation between the two sides has been strengthened over the years, primarily in oil and gas, tourism, maritime, and construction. The Vung Tau-based Vietnam-Russia Oil and Gas Joint Venture Enterprise (Vietsovpetro) has become an exemplary model for efficient cooperation between the two countries. Ba Ria-Vung Tau is a major contributor to the increasing trade ties, exporting its key items such as seafood, cashew nuts, and garments. Linh promised the best conditions for Russian nationals to live, work and travel in the province.
