Senior Party official meets with China’s Xi Jinping

(VOVWORLD) -A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Luong Cuong, Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Secretariat, is paying a working visit to China at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

Meeting with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, Cuong said he believes that the Chinese people, under the the leadership of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary and President Xi as the "core", will achieve the goals of the 20th National Party Congress.

He said that further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the building of a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance according to the "16 letters" motto, "4 good" spirit and "6 elevations" direction is the objective need, a strategic choice and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy.

General Secretary and President Xi affirmed that China takes Vietnam as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and is willing to work with Vietnam to maintain high-level exchanges and contacts, and promote cooperation in all fields and channels.

Xi suggested that the two sides effectively promote cooperation and exchange mechanisms on Party channels; well deploy dialogue mechanisms in defense and security, strengthen practical cooperation, high-quality connections, especially railway connection, border gates, infrastructure construction, state-owned enterprise development, environmental protection, including new fields like digital economy, green development, and natural disaster prevention and mitigation.

General Secretary and President Xi suggested that the two sides take full advantage of the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges next year.

During talks with Cai Qi, member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China and the director of the CPC General Office, Cuong proposed that the two sides control and resolve divergent issues well in the spirit of frankness, sincerity and friendship, focus on stabilizing the situation at sea, and respect each other's legitimate rights and interests in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
