South Korea, US warn North Korea of tougher sanctions

(VOVworld) - North Korea will face additional UN Security Council sanctions further deepening its isolation if North Korea forges ahead with its long-range rocket launch. South Korea's chief nuclear envoy Hwang Joon-kook told the press during his visit to Washington that 6 countries involved in the 6-party nuclear talks and the UN consider any satellite launch by the North to be a clear violation of UN resolutions and a danger to global peace.

In another development, US Secretary of State John Kerry warned that it will increase sanctions if North Korea continues with provocative activities such as activating a nuclear reactor and not complying with international commitments. He reaffirmed the US’s stance to use peaceful measures to obtain a nuclear-free Korean peninsula.
