Southerners contribute opinions to constitutional revisions

(VOVworld) – The Supreme People’s Court on Saturday hosted a conference in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province to collect public opinions on the revisions of the 1992 Constitution. Representatives of southerners commented on Article1, suggesting such wording: “In the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, human rights and citizens’ rights are protected by the state in accordance with international treaties that Vietnam has joined and in accordance with the Vietnamese constitution and law.”  Some delegates proposed change some sentences into: “Everybody has the right to life” and “Taking revenge of petitioners and denouncers or taking advantage of the rights to petition and complaints to slander others are severely prohibited.”
