(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam underlined the need to promote substantive cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria in key sectors such as science and technology, education, agriculture, labor, environment, and healthcare.

Delivering a policy speech at Sofia University on Friday, Mr. Lam highlighted the importance of enhancing people-to-people exchanges, and partnerships in culture, tourism, and sports. In the current global context, strengthening the Vietnam-Bulgaria Strategic Partnership is more crucial than ever, he said.
“Vietnam wishes to strengthen comprehensive cooperation and stands ready to expand practical cooperation with Bulgaria in security and defense, in line with the newly upgraded strategic partnership, especially in such areas as cybersecurity, UN peacekeeping operations, combating transnational crime, and defense personnel training,” the Party leader said.
Vietnam aims to make economic–trade–investment cooperation the central pillar, transforming Vietnam-Bulgaria relations from a traditional foundation into one that is strategic, substantive, and effective, he noted.
“We hope Bulgaria will become a strategic gateway for Vietnam to gain deeper access to the EU market. In return, Vietnam is ready to serve as a trusted bridge for Bulgaria to expand its relations with ASEAN, a dynamic region of nearly 700 million people, including over 100 million Vietnamese,” said the Party chief.
Mr. To Lam expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Bulgaria strategic partnership will become a model of sincere, effective, and enduring international friendship in the 21st century.
