(VOVworld) – Conservative support in Britain has fallen 3 points to 28% since Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne’s Autumn Statement oted deep spending cuts in the coming years.

According to the latest poll conducted by the ICM, a member of the British Polling Council, support for the Labour party has inched up to 33%.

Conservative support is the lowest reported since last June. ICM’s Martin Boon described it as a likely “defeat threshold” for next year’s election.

Despite the results of the 5-day poll which began last Friday, Osborne remained optimistic about his spending cuts, which he said are vital for Britain to achieve an overall budget surplus by the end of this decade.
