Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan sign treaty ending border dispute

(VOVWORLD) - The presidents of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan signed a treaty on Monday on the point of intersection of the borders of the three countries in Khujand, Tajikistan's second-largest city.

The signing took place during the first-ever summit between the three countries, where the three presidents also signed the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship .

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will inaugurate at the border crossing a Friendship Complex built as a monument to the friendship of the people of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

On March 13, the Tajik and Kyrgyz presidents ended a long-standing border dispute by signing a border agreement. The new agreement on the border intersection of the three countries is the final settlement of the border issue between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan after almost 23 years of negotiations.
