Tet celebration held for Vietnamese in New York

(VOVWORLD) - The Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN and the Vietnamese Consulate in New York on Saturday co-organized an event to celebrate the 2024 Lunar New Year (Tet) festival on Roosevelt Island.
The event was attended by Vietnamese living, working, and studying in New York and nearby areas.

At the event, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, highlighted the significance of the General Assembly’s recent passing of a Resolution officially recognizing the Lunar New Year as a UN holiday from this year onward, showing the international community's acknowledgement of Asian cultural heritage and traditions.

Ambassador Giang said Vietnam’s consulate will continue to serve as a link between Vietnamese people in New York and their home country.

Attendees enjoyed traditional Vietnamese Tet dishes and musical performances by Vietnamese artists, students, and members of the Association of Wives and Spouses of Vietnamese diplomatic representatives in New York.
