The media urged to promote reforms

(VOVworld) – The Party Central Committee’s Communications and Education Committee met with the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association and the People’s Newspaper on Friday.

In his address, Secretary of the Party Central Committee Dinh The Huynh stressed the importance of 2014 in the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy to turn Vietnam into an industrialized nation by 2020. He urged those involved in the media sector to enhance the glorious traditions of the revolutionary press and to reflect every aspect of the country’s renewal process: “2014 and 2015 are the years when we need to regain the momentum for growth and to achieve the targets set by the 11th National Party Congress. This is a vital task in which the media plays an important role.”

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that in 2014 the government would continue to maintain growth, stabilize the macro-economy, and ensure social security. He said that this requires social consensus and the contribution of media agencies: “The government asks all media organizations to join efforts to fulfill our set targets under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

He also asked media organizations to promote efforts to build a state governed by law, social order and the rule of law.
