Top Japanese legislator praises Vietnam’s COVID-19 fight
(VOVWORLD) -Santo Akiko, President of the House of Councilors of Japan, on Friday praised Vietnam’s impressive achievements in the fight against COVID-19.
During a reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam in Tokyo, she emphasized the Vietnamese National Assembly’s important role and the people’s understanding and cooperation with the State in pandemic response. Santo said the Japanese legislature thanked the Vietnamese NA and its Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan for the gift package of 20,000 face masks, which she said have been delivered to frontliners in the fight against COVID-19.
She highlighted the fruitful development of Japan-Vietnam relations, especially legislative cooperation.
Ambassador Nam thanked the Japanese government for its financial and medical support for the Vietnamese community in Japan amid the complicated developments of the disease. The Vietnamese Government, NA and people always stand side by side with their Japanese counterparts in all difficult circumstances, he stated.
