Top legislator visits Military Region 9 High Command
(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man urged Military Region 9 to play a more active role in reducing poverty, new-style rural area building, socio-cultural development, climate change response, and search and rescue operations.

Mr. Man was speaking during a visit to Military Region 9 High Command in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on Tuesday. The region encompasses 12 Mekong Delta localities.
Stressing the strategic position of the region, Chairman Man asked the military to team up with other relevant forces and local authorities to combat crime, and work to foil plots by hostile forces.
Officers and soldiers must be fully aware of Party guidelines and State laws on military and national defense, especially the importance of building the “people’s heart and mind posture,” “all-people national defense,” and “people’s warfare,” he said.
“It is necessary to enhance defense diplomacy and build a borderline of peace, friendship, stability, and development.”
The same day, Chairman Man presented gifts to invalid officers and soldiers and children of martyrs, invalids, and those who rendered service to the nation.
