Hung attributed the tourism improvement to implementing the Prime Minister’s Resolution 82 and especially Directive 8 on comprehensive, fast and sustainable tourism development. These documents have focused on unique tourism products, a civilized and friendly tourism environment, and competitive prices as well as cooperation with people to develop tourism.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said “The tourism product identification and application are on the right track. For example, island tourism, community tourism, resort tourism and many other tourism products have fit our directions. Somewhere there are a few individual products that will be inspected and rectified in the near future. Some tourism products entail cultural exchanges with foreign countries. What is progressive and the essence of human culture needs to be absorbed to enrich Vietnamese culture.”

Asked about solutions to nightlife tourism, Minister Hung said that the Prime Minister has approved a project to develop the night-time economy in Vietnam and tasked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with piloting a number of night tourism products.

“Our Ministry has selected 12 provinces and cities for delivering night tourism products. Initial results are quite positive. The future approach will be to suggest a number of product groups based on each local culture; develop different types of cuisine; and meet shopping needs. A roadmap is needed to ensure the effectiveness of night tourism,” he said.
