Major Tran Duc Huong and Second Lieutenant Nguyen Phuc Dong will serve as military observers with the South Sudan mission.

At a ceremony in Hanoi on Tuesday, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Pham Ngoc Minh instructed the two officers to abide by the rules of the UN peacekeeping mission and local laws and customs, and quickly adapt to the new situation to fulfill their duties. He also advised them to maintain good relations with their colleagues, the UN mission, and local organisations and residents, and protect their own safety.
