(VOVWORLD) - Typhoon Bualoi, accompanied by heavy rains, thunderstorms, and landslides, has left more than 40 people dead or missing in northern and central Vietnam.

Hundreds of thousands of homes have been damaged, tens of thousands of hectares of rice and crops submerged, and nearly 7,300 hectares of aquaculture wiped out. Power outages spread across Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Tri provinces, while several train services were suspended.
Nguyen Tien Thich, Vice Chairman of Huong Son Commune People’s Committee in Ha Tinh province, said local authorities are working hard on recovery efforts. “We have mobilized forces to villages to assist residents, restore traffic, and resume operations at schools and health stations.”
Heavy rains have also inundated northern provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, and Lao Cai. More than 90 flights bound for Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi were either diverted or delayed. Landslides have cut off many highland and remote areas. Local governments are inspecting high-risk zones for flash floods and landslides to implement timely safety measures.
“Residents are strictly prohibited from entering areas already flagged for landslide and flash flood risks,” said Giang A Su, Vice Chairman of Hanh Phuc Commune People’s Committee in Lao Cai province.
Floodwaters in the Lo and Gam rivers in Tuyen Quang province are rising sharply, threatening lives and property.
