UN calls for end to Syria’s war

UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon has called for an end to Syria’s 2-year crisis. Responding to reporters on the sideline of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday, Ban expressed his deep concern over the ongoing military activities in Syria. He called on relevant parties to end violence and said the international community is discussing a political resolution for this country.

Regarding Mali, Ban said the UN is ready to provide logistics support to France’s military intervention there. The Secretary also voiced concern over recent developments on the Korean peninsula, particularly following North Korea’s announcement of a nuclear test. He urged Pyongyang to strictly comply with UN Security Council’s resolutions and actively participate in 6-party talks on North Korea’s nuclear program.
