UN chief speaks out against anti-Islam film

(VOVworld)- UN chief Ban Ki-moon has slammed anti-Islamic Internet video, pointing out that freedom of expression should not result in a 'disgraceful and shameful' acts. Speaking to reporters yesterday/Wednesday, the UN Chief  said the recent offensive anti-Islam Internet video had ignited worldwide protests. The Internet video -- which portrays the Prophet Mohammed as a bloodthirsty womanizer -- sparked violent protests across the Muslim world, including an attack on a US consulate in Benghazi in Libya that left four Americans dead, including the US ambassador Chris Stevens. Later the same day, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation said that it will kick start long-standing attempts to make insults against religions an international criminal offence. On a separate thread, the Human Rights Commission of the OIC, which has 57 members and is based in Saudi Arabia, called for “an international code of conduct for media and social media to ban the use of material that incites hatred.
