(VOVworld) - US Secretary of State John Kerry has called for Syrian and Arab ground troops to take on Islamic State militants to enable a complete defeat of the force.

Addressing the annual ministerial council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Belgrade on Thursday, Kerry said that air power alone won't be enough to defeat the IS completely. The campaign will require ground forces, in particular, local Syrian and Arab soldiers. Kerry also urged NATO allies to intensify their fight against the IS.
