US, China emphasize dialogue to resolve disagreements

(VOVWORLD) - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Beijing, and said relations between the world's two largest economies are "beginning to stabilize" since President Joe Biden and President Xi Jinping met at a November summit.

But negative factors in the relationship are still increasing, Wang said. He called on the two countries to resolve their disagreements.

Blinken replied that active diplomacy is needed to move forward with the agenda set by President Biden and President Xi.

He said direct diplomacy is irreplaceable to ensure that the two sides understand each other's view on difficult issues, to avoid misunderstandings and miscalculations.

This is Blinken's second visit to China within a year.
