(VOVworld) – On Tuesday President Obama’s administration ordered continued loosening of restrictions on Cuba as a token of the US’s good will to improve ties with Cuba.

The decision, just a week before President Obama’s historic visit to Cuba, will eliminate travel restrictions on Cubans, give Cuba greater access to US financial institutions, and allow the use of the US dollar in Cuban transactions. It will also allow Cubans to open bank accounts in the US and Cubans living in the US to receive salaries and other compensations. Statements by the Department of Commerce and the Treasury Department said US citizens will be allowed to visit Cuba if their trips are for educational purposes.
