U.S., DPRK hold food aid talks in Beijing

Representatives from the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held a meeting in Beijing on Wednesday to discuss details of a food aid agreement. Robert King, U.S. Special Envoy for DPRK Human Rights, and Ahn Myung Hoon, Deputy Director of the American Affairs Bureau of DPRK's Ministry of Foreign Affairs will discuss the distribution of food assistance. The food aid is part of an agreement between the two nations unveiled last week in which the DPRK has agreed to suspend its nuclear tests, long-range missile launches, and uranium enrichment activity, and allow the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to monitor the moratorium on uranium enrichment. The U.S. agreed to meet the DPRK to finalize the details of the proposed 240,000 metric tons of American food aid.
