According to Kyodo news agency, Japan will apply sanctions against North Korea that include banning financial transactions with North Korea’s Foreign Trade Bank. The decision was announced at a meeting in Japan between Japanese Ministry of Finance authorities and US Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David Cohen. The Japanese Minister of Finance said that UN Security Council has approved the sanctions against North Korea, so Japan will soon apply them. North Korea has warned it could make a “nuclear pre-emptive strike”.
